Symposium 2012
On the 3rd May 2012 EURECO and CEMES (Centre for European Studies) hosted the symposium: "Cosmopolitanism Contested – Conversations with Seyla Benhabib".
Leading North American and European scholars debated with Seyla Benhabib on her presentation ”Towards a Critical Social Theory of Cosmopolitanism”, and on the future of cosmopolitanism in Europe and the world. The speeches were followed by a debate with the audience.
The Distinguished Lecture Series
The EURECO Distinguished Lecture Series ”The Changing Boundaries of Europe” has come to an end.
The EURECO Distinguished Lecture Series will return fall 2012 with jet another lecture series with some of the most prominent researchers in the field of the EU. In spring 2012 EURECO will be hosting a series of different events and debates in cooperation with other organisations. The events can continuously be found in the EURECO calendar.

Honorary Lecture - Jo Shaw
On Tuesday 6 December 2011 Professor Jo Shaw from Edinburgh Law School gave the Final Honorary Lecture in the EURECO Distinguished Lecture Series of the Fall 2011 with the title: Citizenship in the former Yugoslavia: Change and Resistance at the Boundaries of Europe.

What's up Europe?
On Monday 23rd of April the University of Copenhagen hosted the fourth lecture of the lecture series "What's up Europe? EU at a crossroad" with the title: "The future of the EU - moving forward together?"
The President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso and the Dansih Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt debated the state and future of the EU. As an introduction Assistant Professor Rebecca Adler-Nissen gave a short presentation on the topic.

Inaugural Lecture III

EURECO-professor Hans-Jörg Trenz gave his inaugural lecture "Mediatisation and European Integration" on Friday 27 January.
In this lecture, he developed an understanding of mediatisation of European integration and its ambivalent effects on the legitimacy of the EU. A new research agenda was also proposed that starts from the recognition of media autonomy and its decisive impact on the scope and legitimacy of transnational (European) politics and institutions. Research at EURECO

EURECO Professor Ben Rosamond began his work at University of Copenhagen in the beginning of 2011. In this video interview he tells more about his interdisciplinary approach within his research.
He is mainly interested in theories about European and regional integration, especially the role of political economy, discourses and ideas in relation hereto.
